THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PrEP

You must first be tested for HIV to make sure you are negative before starting PrEP.
Every three months, you will need to see your health care provider for HIV testing and blood work and to receive prevention counseling.
Taking Truvada for PrEP every day is very important for it to work and to avoid drug resistance.
PrEP is most effective when used in combination with other prevention methods, such as condoms.
IS PrEP FOR ME??
Truvada for PrEP is for people who do not have HIV. People who would be good candidates for PrEP include those who:
1. can’t or don’t use condoms;
2. don’t know the HIV status of their sex partners;
3. exchange sex for money, food, or housing;
4. use drugs.
Unlike HIV medication, you do not have to take PrEP forever. PrEP may be particularly helpful during those periods — months or years — in your life when you may be at high risk for infection.
