STI awareness
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) — or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) — are generally acquired by sexual contact. The organisms (bacteria, viruses or parasites) that cause sexually transmitted diseases may pass from person to person in blood, semen, or vaginal and other body fluids.
-Unprotected sex (without condom) is the easiest way to get HIV and other STI’s.
– Just like HIV, STIs may not show any signs and you may not know you are infected.
-Having an STI makes it much easier to get infected with HIV, or to spread HIV to others.
-If someone is HIV positive and they get an STI, the HIV can progress quickly to AIDS.
