Background

The Men Against AIDS Youth Group (MAAYGO) is a non-profit, Community Based Organization with its headquarters in Kisumu. MAAYGO works to protect and promote health-related rights, and is dedicated to improve the health of key population, particularly MSM/ MSM in Kisumu. MAAYGO works with both State and non-State Actors including the civil society organizations to improve the health and well-being of key populations.

MAAYGO has extensive experience implementing community based healthcare, prevention, and treatment in both urban and rural areas, and has years of experience working with the National AIDS Control Council (NACC) and the National AIDS & STIs Control Programme (NACSOP) at both the local and national levels, and in strengthening the capacity of key populations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the MAAYGO program design and goals for successful implementation and execution
  • Responsible for overall supervision of the project activities.
  • ·Design and executes project work plans to meet the goals and objective of the project.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for properly orient the staff about overall objectives and activities of the project as per approved scope of work
  • Develop Project Plan and consultation with the team, with the assigning of roles and responsibilities against the activities of the project as per approved work plan and budget
  • Responsible for planning, program design, and to ensure its proper implementation and monitoring at the field level.
  • Monitoring visits to field and to provide technical support to field staff and peereducators
  • Submission of daily, weekly, monthly , quarterly and annual reports to Head Office.
  • Provide guidance for the field level activities and facilitate staff for implementation and issues resolution.
  • Share progress of on-going activities of the project and future plans in line with the project plan with the Head Office with required support if any.
  • Share and finalize the programme documents for required compliance in consultation with the Head Office programme Management.
  • ·Helps team execute career development plans.
  • Work closely with state actors and non-state actors to establish and increase awareness on the issues affecting the key population.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.

  • Ability to set priorities; have organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • A multi-task with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the organization
  • Trained on the MARPs Sensitivity and Good Clinical Practice
  • Able to work with LGBTI/MSM/SW persons

Qualifications

    • At least a Diploma   or certificate in program management, social work and development or other relevant field.
    • At least  2 years experience  working with LGBT,MSM/MSW programming.
