If PrEP is used consistently PrEP can significantly reduce the risk if HIV infection giving you peace of mind. However it does not protect against other STIs and unplanned pregnancies and should be used with other preventive measures such as condoms.
PrEP may be a good option for you if:
You’re at a substantial ongoing risk for HIV infection which include; being in a discordant sexual relationship (where the partner living with HIV is less than six months on treatment or adheres poorly), multiple sexual partners, inconsistent condom use, HIV status of partners are unknown, sharing injection equipments, engaging in transactional or receive gifts for sex.
