Bringing Health Education to the Community: Clinical Outreach at Shaba Maseno
MAAYGO recently conducted a clinical outreach at Shaba Maseno, where a peer educator led an interactive session on correct condom and lubricant use.
The outreach aimed to equip community members with practical skills to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other infections. Participants learned about consistent condom use, the importance of compatible lubricants, and how these tools play a critical role in HIV and STI prevention.
This session forms part of MAAYGO’s broader HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) programming, which prioritizes community-centered education and peer-led approaches. By engaging directly with residents in their own spaces, MAAYGO helps break down barriers of stigma and misinformation while strengthening trust in health services.
MAAYGO continues to work alongside local health partners to ensure that every outreach not only shares vital information but also links participants to testing, treatment, and ongoing care. These efforts are essential to building healthier, more resilient communities in western Kenya and beyond.
